It's a matter of moderation, and let's remember that kids today have a lot more distractions than just television. How does a parent restrict videogames, Internet use and television all at once? Common sense. If my kids do well in school, spend time with friends and spend time outside, I don't really care if they watch a lot of tv. I did as a kid, and loved re-runs of the "Little Rascals" and "Twilight Zone." The call for restrictions on television use has been a constant since the 1960s. I wonder if, before every home had a television set if parents ever chastised their kids for reading too much. Wouldn't be surprised.
