IMHO, any country gaining nuclear power is not in the interest of United States, or for that matter, of the world in general. However, this is really a Middle East problem and I see few good coming from a purely US intervention. Every analyst agree that even a military operation will only buy us time and not stopping the inevitable. One only need to look at North Korea and India, two countries that gained nuclear capability in the last decade as examples.Therefore, a multi-lateral operation to pressure Iran, which US is currently pursing with GB, FR, DE, and RU (is China on board?) make sense to me. I'd love to hear other rational plans on the table. US opening a third front in the Middle East severely compromises our own national security.
